Three cases of perforating colon cancer associated with a retroperitoneal abscess due to perforation are reported. Two of the cancers were primary and the other one was the result of metastasis from the uterus, for which hysterectomy had been performed three years earlier. Abscess drainage with right hemicolectomy in two patients and ileocaecal resection in one were performed with reasonable lymph node dissection. Clinical symptoms in these patients were mild when compared with those of perforation into the free abdominal cavity. Diagnosis, therefore, tended to be delayed until the condition became worse. Computerized tomography revealed the all aspects of the colon lesion. Radical treatment, as early as possible, is recommended.
