A Case of Intrapelvic Recurrence of Ovarian Cancer Successfully Treated with Low Anterior Resection Associated with Right hemisadcral Resection

A 44-year-old woman had a recurrence of ovarian cancer 4 years after primary operation. The tumor was solitary, but located between rectum and the third and the fourth sacrum. Invasion to sacral periostium was suspected. Operation was started in supine position by cutting the rectum with nerve preservation, then in jack-knife position the right half of sacrums from 3rd to 5th were cut, at the final stage en bloc resection of rectum, tumor mass and the partial sacrum was performed in supine position.
Postoperative urinary retention was recovered from 52.1% to 12.3% on the day of discharge one month later. She has been living well without recurrence and therapy off 2 years 7 months after this operation.
