Abdominal echography by a family physician of a 59-year-old male patient revealed a 3.5 cm×2.5 cm×2.0 cm abnormal tumor in the medial segment of the liver. He was referred to our hospital and admitted on July 13, 1992. Our pre-operative survey included abdominal echography, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, abdominal angiography, and cytology of the liver tumor, but it could not provide an accurate diagnosis. To eliminate the possibility of a malignancy a medial segmentectomy of the liver was performed on August 27. The final histopathological diagnosis of the tumor was of a ciliated hepatic foregut cyst.
