A 63-year-old man with a history of gallbladder stones was admitted to our hospital with a complaint of right hypochondrial pain. Abdominal computed tomography and endoscopic retrograde cholangiography showed chronic cholecystitis with gallbladder stones. Open cholecystectomy was performed. A necrotic mucosa was found in the resected gallbladder. Histologically, the gallbladder showed welldifferentiated papillary adenocarcinoma including mucinous adenocarcinoma and there was bone formation in the mucinous component. A gallbladder with heterotopic bone formation is very rare, only 4 cases could be found in the literature.
