A 58-year-old woman developed a mass in the abdomen while being followed up after surgery for colon cancer. The clinical course and radiological findings suggested a desmoid tumor. Since needle biopsy confirmed the diagnosis, tumor was resected. The isolated tumor was 9.5 by 9.0 by 6.0 cm and its cross-section was homogeneously dark gray with no hemorrhage or necrosis. Histopathological examination of the tumor validated the diagnosis. Desmoid tumors are invasive and often recur locally, making extensive resectioning desirable. Preoperative diagnosis of desmoid tumor made by needle biopsy was useful in selecting an appropriate surgical procedure. The patient had a history of abdominal desmoid tumor and developed another desmoid tumor on the mesenterium, which is unusual. No signs of recurrence were seen in follow up 10 months after surgery.
